Early season conditions at Calabogie. Main flow has 4 pillars touching down, 2 can be led. Beginner area is touching down but thin ; another party today said that pro was found only near the top. Couple other flows/pillars broke off during the cold snap. The mixed lines are dry.

Please tread lightly for now. Ice needs to heal from the cold snap. Started to feel plastic in the afternoon.

Noticeably thicker this week, despite the cold temps. Regular flows now are all touching down, though some still have that 'new ice' feel. Thin/less reliable ice is starting to form. Mixed lines are in but fragile and somewhat desperate. The thicker flows are very beaten in and easy for the grade.

General CHUBAR (Chopped Up Beyond All Recondition)

First wall not as fat as usual, very steep this year but leadable.

Second wall in and leadable, left side much thinker than right.

Curtain wall is touching down (just) but water is flowing well today and with -20+ tonight they should be at least a good if fragile top-rope tomorrow.

Beginner wall in but really badly CHUBARed

Other lines to the right all thing and not nice

Not much melting this year but I think there is an ice dam up above that is sending the water over 'Curtain Wall' which is nice for once. No building anywhere but there today. Very cold wind blowing down the vally.
