I bought a Marmot Zion with the Polartec Neoshell fabric, spoken highly of on Dane's Coldthistle site. First impressions:

The fit for me was a large. I'm 5'11" and 175, the fit is large enough in the torso for several layers underneath although I had just one layer under yesterday. Long enough in the arms and tail to avoid any problems with high reaches.

The color is bright blue and I'm hoping it will be photogenic, But I do remember that the same color blue tux that I had to wear at my sister's wedding 35 years ago didn't photograph well;)

I didn't get wet from sweat, not in the slightestest, on lead, but I did get very slightly wet on approach, although much less so than may others softshells.

Yes! It is waterproof too, nice on early season dripfests.

The pockets are above the harness waistline but the zip goes partway down into that zone. Access was not hindered.

The hood will probably not cover a Petzl Meteor helmet. the fit was fine with my Mammut Skywanker and the Petzl Elios.

A nice bonus- the fabric was very Cheetos dust resistant apres climb.

Two (orange) thumbs up
