Keeping with today's (11/24/09) cover theme it is shamefully warm for this late in the year. There is no ice in New Jersey, no frost on the car or lawn. Stepping outside in daylight hours things feel outright balmy. There doesn't even seem to be a hope for cold right now. On the bright side I'm still getting hot peppers out of my garden and I might be serving Thanksgiving on my outdoor furniture.

What nuts is I climbed in the Narrows on the 23rd of Nov last year. This year??? I think I might still need to watch out for the poison ivy at that place!

Mixed climbing boyz...mix it up. Posion Ivy makes stellar pro, vines are very strong, good for slinging!

Driving through the gap to school at East Stroudsburg this morning, it looked like you could do some steep creekin' on the "approach ice" waterfalls on Mt. Tammany. The forecast calls for nightly lows in the 20's this weekend. Here's to the temps hanging around freezing all this water we just got.

I think I'm gonna take griz's advise and do some dry mixing this weekend in the narrows on sat.

Winter appears- a nice coating of snow can be found on my lawn. It will be short lived but at least we now have the cool that promises ice.

went down to k-ville on Saturday. after taking a look at everything, we decided to try and scramble around and go set up a TR somewhere in the hidden amphitheater. so we parked at locktenders and walked up 32 till we found a low angle gully that lead to the top. it was filled w/ a mix of kitty litter of small stones and large loose rocks with a short cliff band about 2/3rds up. we got through a weakness in the cliffs no problem and got to the top.

It was at this point that my partner realized that he had left the rope in his car some 300ft below. That left us with a 70 ft static and some cordaletts, not quite enough to rap into the HA and set up a tr, so our day turned into a nice hike to re-aquatint our selves with the top of the cliffs. We went to the top of each climb and checked out a part of the cliffs I've never explored before. I've been to the tops of a few of the climbs, but never explored the area around the top. We also went to the top of all the buttresses and checked out the views. I'd recommend this to everyone who hasn't done that. We then continued to walk down the cliffs and followed the ridge to its end and as it turned out, the ridge ends right at the restaurant/bar thats down the road. So we ended our day with a burger and some nice warm drinks to warm ourselves since it had turned cold and started to snow. By the time we walked back to the cars, there were 2 inches of white piled up. Maybe winter will stick around this time

Nice Pics Robs! Nice adventure as well, I love that kind of stuff. The views from that pinnacle between Hidden Amp and Dead Deer Gully are awesome. Ive found a few slings / rap stations on some of that stuff in what can only be for some rock climbing adventures from years past. You can also 4th class it up the main gully then scramble up the slope on the right of the headwall. (well unless its teaming with water) Also Sleeve has a secret switchback near South Lock Tenders that will get you up as well.

Weve got to go through one more slop and rain event mid week, but real cold seems like it will follow for real this time. (Maybe long enough to get up some pre-holiday season ice)

I hear you smike, looks like next week. I went up to the Narrows today and there were just a few ice cicles. Plenty of water though. Hopefully the next week will bring something worthwhile.

Yeah thats right Smike, there is a little "path" up to the top between Locktenders and L 20 S...great way to get up high quick if there is no ice down low yet. I'm thinkin that there will be something to stick picks into up high by Sunday.
